On March 19, 1911, the first International Women’s Day was celebrated in a few European countries. At that time the issue was raised to get the right to vote and to end discrimination and demanded women’s right to work. It was in the year 1975, when the United Nations started observing International Women’s Day on March 8. Every year United Nations set a theme to appreciate this day more and this year’s theme is “think equal, build smart, innovate for change”. The reason behind this theme is to promote gender equality and empowerment of women in innovative ways.

A day exclusively dedicated to women is inspired to celebrate their achievements in every walk of life as well as every sector in the economy. A woman before getting out of her house faces many afflictions that only she knows, this day is celebrated to honour all those fights that they’ve fought with the world.
