Keeping in mind the growing concern and interest of the fashion mongers in the environment, Moncler has launched a carbon-neutral puffer jacket for its Autumn-Winter 2019/20 collection. Known as ‘Moncler Treport’, the jacket was launched on December 12, based on the Italian outwear maker’s bio-based technology. The dark-blue, short down jacket comprises of fabrics and accessories made of vegetable origin (castor beans) and natural-origin wool and cotton.

The launch reflects the shift in luxury customers’ preferences towards more socially-responsible brands and environment-friendly products. Bain’s research shows that 80% of luxury customers, particularly millennial buyers, say they prefer brands that are socially responsible. Hence, Moncler’s iconic down jacket comes in a BIO-based and carbon-neutral version. The fabric and accessories (zippers, buttons) that make up the jacket are of vegetable origin (castor beans) while the other components (down, wool, cotton) are of natural origin, an expression of Moncler’s continuous attention to the environment without sacrificing the garment’s quality and technicality.

All the components of the jacket are completely recyclable. The down jacket is carbon neutral, meaning that the CO₂ emissions generated during its life cycle are entirely offset through REDD+ certified projects focused on preserving the Amazon rainforest. The jacket is exclusively available in boutiques for GBP 1260 (INR 1,17,615/-)
