CFO Stuart Burgdoerfer was quoted saying, “We will be communicating to customers, but nothing similar in magnitude to the fashion show.” He also says that “the show was a very important part of the brand-building of this business and was an important aspect of the brand and a remarkable marketing achievement”.

The Victoria’s Secret show dates back to 1995 and is synonymous with supermodels like Naomi Campbell, Miranda Kerr, Gigi Hadid and many more. The brand is famous for its super sexy lingerie collection and beauty products. The fashion show, known for its jewel-encrusted bras and strutting supermodels sporting angel wings had dismally low show ratings last year.

In 2018, former Chief Marketing Officer Ed Razek faced backlash after telling Vogue that the brand would not hire trans or curvy models for the annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show and also apologized later for his remarks. The same year, Victoria’s Secret made an effort to expand diversity on the runway by casting 19 models of colour, including Winnie Harlow, the first model with vitiligo, to walk in the show.
