Before recently joining BJP, he was part of a political campaign for Congress candidate Sunil Shastri in the Allahabad by-poll in 1988 but Mr. Shastri was defeated and Govil stayed away from politics since then. He joined the BJP in 2024 to contest Lok Sabha elections from Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut. Jaya Bachchan

Actress Jaya Bachchan’s entry into politics added a new dimension to her career. She joined the Samajwadi Party and was elected to the Rajya Sabha, representing the state of Uttar Pradesh. Actor known for his  Bollywood and Bhojpuri performances, transitioned into politics by joining BJP. He contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh and emerged victorious, securing a seat in the lower house of the Indian Parliament. Kishan’s popularity among Bhojpuri-audience played an important role in his political success. 

Manoj Tiwari

The renowned actor and singer from Bhojpuri film industry, made his debut in politics with the Samajwadi Party before eventually joining the BJP. He was appointed as the President of the BJP’s Delhi unit because of his mass following and his connection to his roots and contested the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from the North East Delhi constituency.

The ‘Rangeela’ actress contested election from North Mumbai from Congress ticket. She ended up losing to BJP candidate and called it exits for her political career from there.

Kirron Kher

The actress joined BJP in 2009 and became an MP in 2014 from Chandigarh constituency. Kirron Kher served as a leader in politics but is seen nowhere currently in political domain. She campaigned for BJP during the elections, including in Chandigarh for the 2011 municipal corporation elections. She has been a vocal admirer of BJP’s PM candidate Narendra Modi even before the candidature was announced.
