Knowing Aaryan
Kartik Aaryan’s real name was Kartik Tiwari. He was born on November 22, 1988, in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh in a close-knit family of four – mother, father, younger sister and ‘Kartik’ himself. His father, Dr Manish Tiwari is a paediatrician and his mother, Dr. Mala Tiwari is a gynaecologist. He completed his primitive schooling at St. Paul’s School, Gwalior. Kartik shares a special bond with his mother, which is also evident in his social media posts. The chocolate boy dreamt of becoming an actor since he was in standard 10th but failed to express his ardent love for acting to his parents. Coming from a family of doctors, Kartik was expected to foster his career in an academic-centric field. To apprehend the family’s blood of intellectuals he pursued an engineering degree in biotechnology from D. Y. Patil College of Engineering, Mumbai, but destiny had other plans for him. He continued his studies while secretly harbouring ambitions for a career in the film industry. Fame didn’t come to him the easiest way. Aaryan used to skip his classes and travel for more than two hours to give auditions. He had limited financial means at that point, he lived in an apartment with 12 other aspiring actors and earned money by cooking for them. He learnt acting from the Kreating Charakters Institute. After three years of unsuccessful auditioning, he signed his first film ‘Pyaar Ka Punchnama’. He burst the bubble of his dreams in front of his parents after signing the film. Kartik nailed his role in the film and rose to prominence as ‘The Monologue Guy’ as his character’s four-minute monologue was one of the lengthiest single shots done for a Hindi film. Subsequently, Aaryan did films like ‘Akaash Vani’, ‘Kaanchi: The Unbreakable’ and ‘Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2’ but there was still a long way to go for the young actor to achieve commendable fame. In an interview, Aaryan mentioned “Even after doing many films, people didn’t know me, they used to call me ‘Monologue Guy or Ladka’”.
