Tourism Authority Of Thailand Launches ‘Open To The New Shades’ Campaign


The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) recently cut the ribbon for the communications campaign of “Amazing Thailand Tourism Year 2018” with a spectacular procession through the heart of Bangkok. Over the next 12 months, TAT is giving their all to step up their marketing communications to bring to light the diverse and unique local experiences of Thailand. The Amazing Thailand brand has named its 2018 tourism year ‘Open to the New Shades.’ Focusing on bringing the beautiful and prominent Thai culture to the limelight on a global scale, the TAT has organized various competitions and cultural performances to entice and ensure global participation.

The 3rd TAT Newsroom Blogger Thailand competition was announced by TAT Governor Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn saying “Bloggers can share their experiences in Thailand with a real sense of passion and thus inspire their audiences to visit the kingdom. This is a trend we very much support, in the way it can show the world’s travelers there is so much to see and do in ‘Amazing Thailand’ either for the first time or from a new perspective.” Bloggers can submit their entries to the 3rd TAT Newsroom Blogger Thailand competition between 1 January and 15 February, 2018. The voting period is from 1 January to 15 March, 2018, with the winners’ announcement to be made in the last week of March. Just like last two years, the winners will be treated to a return airfare and an all-expenses-paid trip to Thailand. The trip route will be highlighting the ‘Colours of the East’, combining the capital Bangkok with the cultural charms and natural wonders of Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat, which will be taking place in May 2018.

The ‘Open to the New Shades’ campaign is aimed to bring to light various hidden treasures of Thailand. Ranging from the culinary reserves that are abundant in the country be it street food or fine dining, arts and crafts as Thailand is home to some world-class artisans and has various local crafts that can shine through. Thailand is rich in natural beauty offering outstanding views of landscapes and beaches which are famous across the globe for being some of the most the most pristine locations in the continent. The cultural diversity of Thailand is a fascinating in its own way and provides limitless opportunities to discover Thailand in a whole new way. Cultural aspects like religion, sports or the arts are sure to leave a lasting impact on the mind and hearts of the travelers. The ‘Open to the New Shades’ campaign also provides a unique take on the local Thai experiences.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has taken the initiative of making a commercial film to illustrating the 2018 communication concept of ‘Open to the New Shades’ which you can watch on the Amazing Thailand YouTube Channel. The beautiful concept film showcases the stories of Thailand through the experiences of markets. The film also lays emphasis on the beauty and diversity of Thai tourism services under five sub-themes: Shades of Thai Gastronomy, Shades of Thai Arts and Crafts, Shades of Thai Culture, Shades of Thai Beach and Nature, and Shades of the Thai Way of Life.
