The entire film fraternity is heartbroken at the news of Wajid Khan of Sajid-Wajid fame duo. News agency PTI reported that the music composer died in the early hours of Monday in a hospital in Mumbai. Wajid was suffering from kidney infections and complications since long. Hence, condolences have been pouring since then from the fraternity since the news broke. Celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, his son Abhishek, Akshay Kumar, Priyanka Chopra, her cousin Parineeti Chopra, Karan Johar, Varun Dhawan, Preity Zinta, Arjun Kapoor and others have posted on social media.

The singer-composer was known for the enormous hits he produced along with brother Sajid Khan. Among the industry hits, the duo also composed music for the IPL 4 theme song ‘Dhoom Dhoom Dhoom Dhadaka’. Wajid Khan recently co-composed Salman’s songs ‘Pyaar Karona’ and ‘Bhai Bhai’, which the actor released during the lockdown. Also, Sajid-Wajid also composed the theme songs for Salman Khan-hosted reality TV shows Bigg Boss 4 and Bigg Boss 6. Wajid Khan and his brother Sajid were part of reality music show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa 2012 and Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Singing Superstars mentors. Debut with ‘Pyar Kiya Toh Darna Kya’

In1998, Sajid-Wajid entered the industry with their score in the hit movie ‘Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya’. The duo composed the song ‘Teri Jawani’ in the Salman Khan and Kajol starrer movie. The song featured Arbaaz Khan and welcomed appreciation. Therefore, this song marked the onset of a beautiful journey by the composer duo. 

Collaboration with Sonu Nigam

In 1999, they scored music for Sonu Nigam’s album Deewaana, which included the songs ‘Deewaana Tera’, ‘Ab Mujhe Raat Din’ and ‘Iss Kadar Pyaar Hai’.  These remain one of the biggest career-building songs of Nigam’s journey. Hence, the songs were the biggest hits of their own time. And in today’s time, these numbers are counted as classics of the era.

Breakthrough with ‘Hello Brother’

Sajid-Wajid cemented their place in the industry with the hits they delivered for this movie. ‘Hello Brother’ was a hit among the audiences and the songs got particularly popular. Also,  the duo directed the music of the superhit numbers ‘Hata Saawan Ki Ghata’, ‘Chupke Se Koi Aayega’ and ‘Hello Brother’. All these songs garnered cult status. These created surge for their upbeat music.

Collaborations with Salman Khan

Sajid-Wajid gave music to several Salman Khan films. These included ‘Hello Brother’, ‘Partner’, ‘Hello’, ‘God Tussi Great Ho’, ‘Wanted’, ‘Veer’, ‘Tumko Na Bhool Paayenge’, ‘Tere Naam’, ‘Mujhse Shaadi Karogi’ and ‘Ek Tha Tiger’. Their most popular association with Salman was the Dabangg franchise that became a mass favourite. Hence, the item numbers particularly stole the show upon release. Wajid as a Singer

Between the two siblings, Wajid Khan was also a singer. He crooned popular numbers like ‘Do You Wanna Partner’, ‘Soni De Nakhre’, ‘Tujhe Aksa Beach Ghuma Doon’, ‘Love Me’, ‘Hud Hud Dabangg’, ‘Chinta Ta Ta Chita Chita’, ‘Mashallah’ and ‘Fevicol Se’. Also, Wajid Khan had sung the IPL 4 theme song ‘Dhoom Dhoom Dhoom Dhadaka’. The song was a big hit as well. (Source: The Indian Express)
