Demi Lovato is engaged! The singer announced the exciting news Wednesday that she and boyfriend Max Ehrich have taken their relationship to the next level.
Lovato took to Instagram to share a slideshow of snapshots depicting the special moment. This was after Ehrich popped the question on the sands of Malibu beach. (ET Online)
“When I was a little girl, my birth dad always called me his ‘little partner’ – something that might’ve sounded strange without his southern cowboy like accent,” Lovato captioned the heartwarming photos. “To me, it made perfect sense. And today that word makes perfect sense again but today I’m officially going to be someone else’s partner.”
“@maxehrich – I knew I loved you the moment I met you,” she continued. “It was something I can’t describe to anyone who hasn’t experienced it firsthand but luckily you did too.”
She went on to say that she has never felt “so unconditionally loved by someone” in her entire life.
“You never pressure me to be anything other than myself. And you make me want to be the best version of myself. I’m honoured to accept your hand in marriage,” she wrote. “I love you more than a caption could express but I’m ecstatic to start a family and life with you. I love you forever my baby. My partner. Here’s to our future!!!”

While several big names congratulated Demi on the big news, Alia Bhatt too was a part of the list. Apart from liking Demi’s post, Alia also dropped some hearts in the comment section.

The engagement comes during a year when Lovato opened up about her conversation with her parents regarding her sexuality and the possibility that she could end up with a woman.
“It was actually, like, emotional but really beautiful,” Lovato said in January. “After everything was done, I was, like, shaking and crying, and I just felt overwhelmed.” At the time she said she was still unsure what her future family would look like. “I don’t know what my future looks like,” she continued. “I don’t know if I’m going to have kids this year or in 10 years. I don’t know if I’m going to do it with a partner or without.”
Long open about her own mental health struggles, Lovato also spoke out in April about mental health during the Covid-19 pandemic. (Source: CNN) “So many have been left alone with their thoughts, their anxieties, their abusers — and are struggling with the uncertainty of these times,” Lovato wrote in the caption. “That is why I am helping to launch #TheMentalHealthFund to support organizations who are meeting the increased demand in crisis counselling due to COVID-19.”
The Couple’s Story
The pair made their actual, appearance as a couple in Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande’s music video for “Stuck With U” in May 2020. Lovato and Ehrich both posted an extended clip dancing and kissing to the new song. “Happy to be a part of something so special right now. Like really REALLY happy if you can’t tell… 🥰🥰🥰 #stuckwithu,” she wrote.
In a caption of the same clip, Ehrich wrote, “My whole heart. #stuckwithu 💓 All proceeds go to the First Responders Children’s Foundation 🙏”
