Pallavi Shantam’s “Yours Truly” collection for her ‘Buna’ label which sent a very sublime message for the coming summer season while “Evolve 2020” by Jayati Goenka offered perfect sustainable fashion with creative stylish elements. The “Out of the Blue Red Yellow” collection by Riddhi Jain for her label ‘Medium’ and the “Connecting the Dots” collection by RAAB were also a timeless addition to the show as they bequeathed emotional as well as fashionable satisfaction.
When craft is the centre of attraction in a show, the result has to be one of extreme beauty. The ‘Crafted in Crochet’ show by Mandeep Nagi for her ‘Shades of India’ label was a delicate fresh look at crochet that was brought to centre stage with her collection called “A Summer Poem” during Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2020. The show opened with pairs of expert crochet and embroidery craftswomen sitting on raised platforms amongst the audience, while long panels of organza with 3D embellishments hung from the ceiling and lined the ramp. To the strains of a live band and the soft crooning by a euphonious singer, the show unfolded to create the beauty of crochet on the ramp. Women will long to covet for the coming season, “A Summer Poem” collection by Mandeep Nagi for her brand ‘Shades of India’ which was a grand tribute to the show “Crafted in Crochet”.
The day was again charmed with two more collections. While Ashdeen Lilaowala explored the beauty of Gara Embroidery through his “Memories on Cloth” collection, House of Three brought Western Fashion with an Indian Soul to Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2020 with their “Kumarikandam” collection which was all about fashion that amalgamated the best from the West with the traditions and heritage of India’s culture that will definitely thrill fashion followers.
