The recently concluded India Couture Week (ICW) 2019 by FDCI has created a lot of buzz in the fashion world. The fashion-savvy turned up in big numbers to witness the design maestros of India create masterpieces of couture at the fashion week. With some analysis of the designs that saw the light of the ramp this runway season, it can be concluded that some trends are going to be bigger than ever this year. Ace designers like Suneet Varma, Falguni and Shane Peacock, Tarun Tahiliani and Gaurav Gupta among others displayed their designs on ICW’s runway. Here are some trends that we think are going to be big this wedding season –

  1. Volume

The designs featured by designers Tarun Tahiliani and Gaurav Gupta have special attention on the detailing in the lehengas and frocks to create a voluminous look. The designer duo Falguni and Shane Peacock created ultra-voluminous ball-gown style lehengas that created a chic and modern look. This means that voluminous lehengas are going to be the next big thing this season.

  1.  Floral Details

Designers Rahul Mishra and Shyamal & Bhumika displayed a number of items in their haute couture designs that embed flower motifs in the outfits delicately and beautifully. Floral details being elegant as they look have always been an integral part of the outfits for the wedding ceremonies. Therefore, giving it an haute couture twist only makes sense.

  1. White

Almost all the designers had special outfits made in white for the Fashion Week hosted mostly in Hotel Taj Mahal in Delhi. Designers like Shyamal and Bhumika, Rahul Mishra and Falguni and Shane Peacock had certain designs in their collections that concentrated on muted shades and white/off-white hues.

  1.   Feather Details

Falguni and Shane Peacock’s runway show began with a model flaunting a maximalist red lehenga with exaggerated feather detailing. Other designers such as Sulakshana Monga and Suneet Varma had highlighted detailing of extensions and ruffles if not feathers in their designs.

5.  Bling

Bling was a part of each and every collection, inevitably. Reynu Taandon’s designs had mirror work and sparkle as fairy dust spread over the entire collection. Tarun Tahilian’s couture was studded with Swarovski crystals. Gaurav Gupta’s collection was painted in sharp colours like silver and red that seemed nothing less than luminous.
