Simon Porte Jacquemus delivered magnificence at Jacquemus’ Fall 2020 show which went viral shortly after its runway show’s success on January 18, Saturday. “It’s the first time in my life that I have designed a collection as if it were my last,” said Simon Porte Jacquemus, standing in front of a mood board awash in neutral tones. The French fashion house put on a rousing show at Paris Men’s Fashion Week on Saturday, despite a neutral colour palette of beige and khaki tones.
The collection was brought to life on the runway by a star-studded ensemble including Gigi Hadid, Bella Hadid and Laetitia Casta. This is the first time Casta, who opened the show, had appeared on the runway in nearly a decade.
The designer selectively chose sparse white runway post the exquisite lavender fields showcase last season. The choice of colours that ruled the roost at the show were neutral tones, although, a number of other tones also made an appearance in the form of pastel yellow accessories, fluorescent pink and sage green versions of the iconic micro bags and other items. On the women’s side, standout pieces include a ‘barely there’ top that somewhat resembles a giant scrunchy placed on top of a bralette. Despite the quirky design, one cannot help to think that the piece would blend in seamlessly on the shores of the French Riviera.
