To celebrate the Chinese New Year, this year signified as the ‘Year of The Rat,’ Gucci has launched a new capsule collection to seal a position in the market there. Gucci’s ‘Year of the Mouse’ collection features Disney’s biggest star — Mickey Mouse. The range includes a wide variety of trendy clothing, outerwear, accessories, shoes and more. While there have been a plethora of Disney-themed goods to hit shelves in the past year, Gucci’s collaboration brings Mickey into the world of luxury and allows customers to indulge in a mix of high-end fashion and playful animation.
Earlier, Gucci photographed campaign images for new Disney x Gucci collection at Disneyland and posted photos on Instagram. Some of the pieces feature new Mini GG Supreme fabric that draws from a Gucci pattern from the 1980s, as well as Disney’s iconic character. Gucci brand ambassador and actress Ni Ni is the face of the new campaign, which is set in Disneyland. Ni Ni stars alongside actor Earl Cave and designer Zoe Bleu in the digital and print campaign, all shot by Harmony Korine.
New pairs of Gucci slides are available in the Mickey meets GG supreme print, and there is even a fur-trimmed loafer in the same pattern. The latest collection is truly a marrying of Gucci and its most recognizable prints simply infused with a little Mickey Mouse fun for the New Year.
The Disney x Gucci limited-edition collection includes over 70 styles of ready-to-wear items, which is part of the label’s Cruise 2020 lineup. Michele revamped his gender-bending designs to infuse Mickey Mouse’s character with Gucci’s classic motifs like the GG Marmont, silk floral and its best-selling Ace trainers.
