  1.     Cape Town

Visiting the quirky penguins at Boulders Beach, between Simon’s Town and Cape Point, is a unique experience. Wine lovers travel far and wide to experience Groot Constantia – South Africa’s oldest wine estate. Now, Robben Island is a World Heritage Site and museum, offering daily tours. The tour begins at the Nelson Mandela Gateway at the V&A Waterfront with a multimedia exhibition, museum shop and restaurant, after which, guests hop onto the ferry for a scenic trip to the island.

  1.     KwaZulu-Natal

Absolutely out of this world, this place is a multi-cultural showpiece global destination. The Zulu Kingdom or the Province of KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) has a devout following throughout continental Africa. And it is right up there on “must-see, must-do” lists of discerning travellers around the world. These are all just some of the reasons why KZN remains a firm leader in the South African tourism space.

  1.     Gauteng

Although it is the smallest of South Africa’s nine provinces, Gauteng (the Sotho word for “Place of Gold”), is the commercial and industrial powerhouse of the country and indeed of southern Africa. Gauteng is a cosmopolitan, multicultural mix of people from all walks of life, from all corners of the world.

  1.     Drakensberg

The Maloti Drakensberg Park, a World Heritage Site, should be a part of every journey to South Africa. Artists, photographers, fishermen, birders, campers or hikers can escape to where you can breathe clean air under clear skies, the Southern Drakensberg will fulfil your hopes, time and time again.

  1.     Sabi Sands

The Sabi Sands Game Reserve is a 65,000-hectare reserve, pioneered by local landowners in the 1950s, and shares a border with the world-renowned Kruger National Park. Today, many of these families are now third and fourth generation landowners, their legacy being the successful conservation of the highest density of big game in South Africa. Even though there is a 50-kilometre unfenced boundary with the Kruger National Park, wildlife in the Sabi Sands Reserve is well habituated resulting in extraordinary close encounters and prolific sightings, particularly of the elusive leopard. The Sabi and the Sand Rivers run through the reserve, which adds a further dimension to the bio-diversity of this area.
