“India is one of our top six source markets, with a total of 600,377 tourists recorded in 2018. Last year, from January to October, total arrivals from India were at 615,296. Based on the present outbound trend, we are optimistic that we will be able to surpass the 728,000 arrivals target for 2019” said the Deputy Minister.
Promoting Malaysia as the preferred tourist destination, Hon. Tuan Muhammad Bakhtiar Bin Wan Chik lead the Malaysian delegation with 13 tour agents, 14 hotel operators, 7 product owners, 3 airline operators, and several officials from Tourism Malaysia. This promotional effort is expected to increase the number of Indian tourists to Malaysia significantly, through promoting greater awareness of Malaysia as an ideal holiday destination, as well as fostering greater cooperation between tour operators and members of the tourism fraternity. The VM 2020 campaign aims to attract 30 million international tourist arrivals with one million from the Indian market.
This was the 27th year of SATTE since it was first organized in 1994. The program is regarded as one of the largest travel trade exhibitions in the South Asia region, attracting hundreds of trade visitors from all over the world. The three-day program was held at the India Expo Mart in Greater Noida and it was an opportunity for buyers and sellers to network with each other and develop new tourism products and packages.
