The fifth day of the first digital India Couture Week (ICW) 2020 defined regality for the fashion-savvy. Top designers Kunal Rawal and Falguni Shane Peacock presented their couture on the fifth day. The former presented a delicate collection for the man while the latter’s couture was replete with bling and lustre.
Falguni Shane Peacock
International leading luxury couture designers Falguni Shane Peacock, brought ostentatious and glam couture in the first digital India Couture Week 2020. They presented a fashion film titled “Spectacle Privé” (opportunity to see or experience something before it is officially presented or released to the public).
Fashion and especially technology has taken on new meaning and a different turn during the pandemic, given the rapid growth of visuals on social media, a powerful new format of communication and expression has emerged.
The purpose of this fashion film “Spectacle Privé” ICW 2020 is an artistic showcase to co-relate and recreate a reverie as the excitement from runway shows live to a new narrative form of showing couture via a fashion film” says fFalguni Shane Peacock. The idea behind “Spectacle Privé” is to take viewers behind the scenes, to witness the intrinsic effort put in every creation presented in each look. “We are using this platform to present our inspirations and to tell the stories of our design concepts and how couture comes to life for us,” to dramatise this, Falguni Shane Peacock also directed the film.
Kunal Rawal
Designer Kunal Rawal’s new showcase Hide & Seek is for the MAN today, the world we live in and how beautifully democratic menswear is today. This season, as we present our first-ever digital show, we explore a creative voice that is personal – creating drama through simplicity and attention to detail.
Their latest showcase titled ‘Hide And Seek’ is an addition to the label’s occasion wear lineup. The designer strongly believes, with couture and especially the kind of look we enjoy, a lot of details get missed out hence we decided to take the opportunity and enhance the deeper nuances and detailing of a couture piece through this collection. This follows a similar take to the brand’s most recognized elements while shifting focus to an intimate showcase of the craft and handworked detailing. The collection celebrates the legacy of Indian handcraft in a unique way and displays its signature style of – comfort meets luxury!
The silhouettes are dominated by body contouring styles, cuts that shape the body achieving a clean and lean look while adhering to the tone on tone sensibilities of the label. Continuing their tryst with the richest form of embroideries like french knots, they have created patterns that rise up to form a three dimensional visual illuminated with highlights that are ideal for every man’s festive needs.
This collection highlights signature pillars of our label that remains true to our brand aesthetic – Optionality especially in menswear, having a wide array of options to choose and match your personality, mood and body type. Versatility /Functionality is even more relevant today, as the designer provides keen attention to unique techniques for garment construction such as deconstruction and mock layering – where separates can be broken up and worn in multiple ways and men can create multiple looks with every garment. Lastly, of course, Luxury – each and every piece is intricately hand-detailed, even if the look is tonal.
