The 31st edition of Amazon India Fashion Week in association with Nexa Autumn Winter 2018 and organised by the Fashion Design Council of India, commenced on March 14th, 2018. The five day affair will be held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Lodhi Road, New Delhi. In addition to showcasing the work of almost 100 designers, the 31st edition of the much-loved fashion week will also showcase the power of handloom.
Day one of the much-awaited show opened with Samant Chauhan’s collection which comprised mostly shades of black and grey along with embroidered designs and ruffled detailings. Paying a homage to Lucknow, ’s collection ‘Anupamaa’ featured dreamy white coloured outfits to brighter hues, quirky designs and asymmetric hems.
Patine Autumn/Winter 2018 took the spectators on a journey to Central Asia’s Uzbekistan. Traditional Uzbek patterns and embroidery motifs were smoothly blended with contemporary silhouettes. Patine’s collection consisted of both bright and dark hues complemented by trendy footwear.
‘Defiance’ by Adarsh Gill and Sophia Azad was inspired by the eternal style divas Sophia Loren, Audrey Hepburn and Fiona Campbell. This collection brings out the comfort and practicality that comes with androgynous designs.
The Fall 2018 collection by Shyamal & Bhumika was an enthralling blend of craft and colour. The intricately crafted collection consisted of silk skirts with floral motifs, statement dresses in soft velvets with multi-colored sequins and bugle beads, and magnificent sarees in flowing organza.
Inspired by the streets of Delhi, Abraham and Thakore’s trans-seasonal collection showcased an incredible array of colours, fabrics and silhouettes is an uplifting testament to diversity and the sheer joy of dressing. From hoodies to ghagras, skinny jeans to salwars, jutis to trainers, a multitude of stylistic influences were incorporated.
The day was brought to a close by Vaani Kapoor walking the ramp for Ashish N Soni and Gauri & Nainika. Vaani wore two looks for the designer collaboration. Her first look was an elegant one where she adorned a couture gown by Gauri & Nainika. Her second look wan an androgynous one by Ashish N Soni.
