Keeping Connected In The Times Of Covid-19

Covid-19 has made it difficult to keep connected to our loved ones. In a way, it has completely altered our social habits. We are no longer meeting our friends and distant relatives. There is also a major change in the things that we see around. Earlier, we maybe took a walk to the park, got out in the sun, laughed with a friend, now the setting is restricted to home environs only. Now we are mostly seeing the walls of our home or the tv set in the drawing room. Humans are social beings. It implies we need to socialise with our loved ones so as to be healthy and happy. The quarantine time is only making us more and more aloof.

Here, technology can help us big time. Though nowadays our use of cellphones has been more or less to scroll mindlessly through things that we don’t even care about. Well, the time has come to use technology the way it was meant to be used. All the introverts who have been making excuses to avoid phone calls, it’s time you dial your best friend’s number and ask them how they are doing. At this hour, we all need to hear words of comfort from our loved ones. Make sure you be that voice of comfort to someone.

You don’t always need to be an interesting talker. It is okay if you just initiate the phone call, your friends are going to appreciate the effort. Moreover, it is not the duration of the call that matters more but the frequency of the calls that really count. Don’t let gaps fill in between your connection. Set a Facetime ritual with friends who mean a lot to you. Our social circle can really help us alleviate the stress and remember that a simple conversation is all it takes to lift one’s mood.
